My love for Christmas has always been boundless and overflowing! It’s the kind of excitement that just can’t be contained. As a kid, the excitement would spill out of me in giggles and spontaneous dance moves.
And as an adult... actually who am I kidding? The holiday season still fills me with the same childlike enthusiasm, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
This year, I polled my amazing newsletter subscribers to find out their all-time favourite Holiday albums (because who doesn’t love a good festive tune?). I decided to turn those musical picks into fabric bundles that’ll have you humming all the way to your sewing machine.
And if you keep scrolling, I'll show you a round up of Christmas quilts I’ve made in years gone by!
Birds Hill Quilt - Boney M
This album never fails to get my mother-in-law out of her chair, singing along, and even busting out a little dance move! The Boney M Christmas Album has such a fun, disco-inspired vibe—it’s festive, upbeat, and impossible to sit still to.
I love how the icy blues and snowflakes on the album cover are a refreshing departure from the usual reds and greens you find at Christmas. It pairs perfectly with the Birds Hill Quilt pattern, where the HSTs remind me of the fractals and ice crystals that make snow so mesmerizing and magical.
Churchill Quilt - Mariah Carey
You can’t talk about Christmas without mentioning Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” It’s basically the anthem of the season—or is that just a millennial thing?
The Churchill Quilt, inspired by the winter sun rising over the snowy arctic in northern Manitoba, felt like the perfect match for an album with lots of white, snowy negative space. From the start, I knew this pattern would capture the magical, frosty vibe of Mariah’s iconic holiday hit!
Crystal Creek Quilt - Kenny & Dolly
Neither this quilt nor this album were on my original list to include! Luckily, I decided to ‘check it twice’ and realized how silly it would be not to include one of my favourite TBS patterns, the Crystal Creek Quilt, especially since its design even resembles Christmas baubles. It’s festive, fun, and perfect for the season!
The Kenny & Dolly Christmas Album has such a warm, nostalgic vibe—it’s cozy, classic country with just the right touch of holiday charm. The soft, muted colors of the album cover and the circular motif with the wreath instantly felt like a perfect match for this quilt pattern. Together, they capture that timeless, homespun holiday spirit that makes you want to snuggle up by the fire.
Falcon Ridge Quilt - The Grinch
I know this book/movie/album has been a longtime favorite for so many people, but I have to admit, I’m a newer fan! It wasn’t until the 2018 version of the movie (featuring Benedict Cumberbatch) that I was finally won over.
That being said, I’ve always loved the slightly “edgier” colors of Dr. Seuss, and you can’t tell me that the mountain blocks in the Falcon Ridge Quilt don’t look a little like Mount Crumpit. Am I right?!
Grand Beach Quilt - Trans-Siberian Orchestra
This album might lean a little niche with its symphonic metal vibe, but it’s actually one of the best-selling Christmas albums of all time in the U.S.! If electric guitars, pyrotechnics, and lasers are your thing, then this is definitely the holiday soundtrack for you—and honestly, I’m here for it!
I chose the Grand Beach Quilt for this pairing because it let me play with a variety of bold pops of color, reminiscent of the twinkling lights on the Christmas tree. One of my favorite features of this pattern is the transparency effect, where the triangles seem to overlap. It gives off serious laser light show vibes, with colours blending and creating a magical, festive energy!
Home Street Quilt - Home Alone
The background fabric is Kona Spruce, which just so happens to be one of my absolute favorite colors to use. It sneaks its way into almost every quilt I make, and I love that it gets its moment to shine here. Plus, the way the other colours pop against the darker background is just chef’s kiss!
Old Market Square - Handel's Messiah
First performed in Dublin on April 13, 1742, Handel’s Messiah has been a cherished tradition around the world for centuries. Often referred to as the “Christmas” portion, Part I is a favorite during the Advent season, typically culminating with the iconic “Hallelujah” chorus from Part II.
Living in Canada, I’m no stranger to December’s short days and long nights, so I loved embracing a darker color palette for this FREE Old Market Square Quilt. It still captures the warm twinkle of candlelight, bringing a cozy, festive touch to the design!
Paint Lake Quilt - A Charlie Brown Christmas
In our house, the album from A Charlie Brown Christmas by Vince Guaraldi is the official signal that the holiday season has begun. It’s kind of a running joke now—everyone wonders how long it’ll take for my husband, Chris, to hit play for the first time. The answer? Usually about 30 minutes after we’re done trick-or-treating on October 31st! It’s like clockwork, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Can I just say, once again, the Paint Lake Quilt pattern delivered! I’m starting to think that no matter what colours I throw at this design, it always turns out a winner. It’s hands down one of our best-selling patterns and bundles, and this one was no exception!
Pine Falls Quilt - Bing Crosby's Christmas Gems
Bing Crosby’s Christmas Gems album is a timeless holiday classic, and of course, his version of “White Christmas” is iconic. If you asked 100 people to sing it, I’m willing to bet most of them would end up imitating Bing’s smooth, velvety rendition. His version is so iconic that it’s almost impossible to hear the song and not picture him crooning it by the fireplace, setting the perfect nostalgic tone for the holidays.
I was hoping to find an album cover with snow-covered, frosty trees that would pair perfectly with the Pine Falls Quilt pattern, so thank you, Bing! With 14 Christmas albums to choose from, there was certainly no shortage of options!
Prairie Plaid Quilt - She & Him
I think it’s pretty clear that Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward give off major "hipster" vibes. So I knew their She & Him Christmas albums were the perfect choice for the Prairie Plaid Quilt that I designed in collaboration with Janome Canada.
This design is inspired by the classic buffalo check pattern, but with a creative twist. Can it get anymore 2011 than buffalo check? I think not.
Prairie Rose Quilt - Motown Christmas
The Motown Christmas Album brings all the festive energy with a soulful twist. Featuring legends like Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5, and Marvin Gaye, it’s the perfect mix of holiday cheer and Motown groove—ideal for dancing around the kitchen while baking or wrapping gifts.
With its various re-releases over the years, there were a few album art options to choose from. I loved the simple palette of red, green, and golden yellow for the Prairie Rose Quilt but swapped the colour placement, using hunter green as the background for added depth.
Rockwood Quilt - Wham!
Last Christmas by Wham! is the ultimate bittersweet holiday anthem. With its catchy synth-pop sound, being equal parts nostalgic and upbeat, it’s one of those songs that instantly gets stuck in your head and somehow feels just right for the season.
Let’s be honest, I couldn’t resist the chance to embrace the bold, vibrant colors of the 1980s, especially when they pair so perfectly with the Rockwood Quilt Pattern! The geometric design practically begs for high-contrast palettes and saturated hues, and this era’s fearless approach to colour is a perfect match.
Star Lake Quilt - ★NSYNC
The NSYNC Christmas Album is pure late-90s holiday magic—full of catchy, feel-good pop vibes. It’s the perfect mix of festive cheer and boy-band charm.
Of course, I had to pair it with the Star Lake Quilt pattern because, well, they’re pop stars! Get it?! The dynamic design just felt like the perfect match for their glittery, over-the-top holiday energy!
Steep Rock Quilt - The Beach Boys
The Beach Boys Christmas Album brings sunny, laid-back vibes to the holiday season, with fun, bright energy that feels like Christmas at the beach. The vibrant colors are reminiscent of their signature surf-style, but with a festive spin.
Although the Steep Rock Quilt pattern wasn’t originally designed with an evergreen tree shape in mind, once Christmas was on my brain, it hit me… DUH! The cascading shape of a tree practically jumped out at me. It’s the perfect blend of holiday spirit and California cool!
