Meet The Churchill Pattern Testers

madejustsew Churchill Quilt

Allow me to introduce you to the amazing pattern testers I had the privilege of partnering with for the release of the Churchill Quilt pattern!

Check out the PDF and Paper Churchill Pattern here!

I’ve said it before, and I will continue to say it - I wouldn’t be able to do what I do without my pattern testers! They are incredible human beings who work behind the scenes to make sure my pattern release goes as smoothly as possible. They catch my mistakes, give me honest feedback and encourage me along the way!

To top it off, they all create the most beautiful and unique quilts using colour combinations I could only dream of. Seeing how their own quilts come together is one of my favourite parts of the pattern release process - which is why I want them to all have their moment in the sun.

So, without further delay…meet the Churchill pattern testers!

Meet Claire of @madejustsew

Claire lives across the pond in Stratford Upon Avon, UK - otherwise known as Shakespeare’s town! Her business started with creating Keepsakes & Memory Bears, but has grown to also include quilts, patterns and more! Claire has been a long time tester of mine, and I’m sure you can see why!

Claire made the baby size in the 7 colour-way version. She matched her Kona cotton colours on the front to the backing fabric, then replaced one colour with the backing fabric to really tie it all together! Because of the pattern’s large negative space at the top, she opted to do some “fancy quilting” in a diamond design.

She used Kona Cotton in Snow, Foxglove, Woodrose, Gold, Dusty Blue and Waterfall. The backing fabric from the Melody Miller Rise Collection for Ruby Star Society

Meet Laura of @finleyfabric

Laura and I originally connected over our love for dogs! She is also a quilter and fabric store owner. Laura and I have worked together on a few pattern releases now and I always appreciate both her eye for colour and attention to detail! She has also released a few of her own patterns and they’re certainly worth checking out.

Laura made this incredible ombre Churchill wall hanging using different shades of purple! She often chooses solid white for the background, but decided to add something a little special for this one - she used Blossoms by Riley Blake Designs.

Meet Keyana of @collectivequilts

Keyana is from just outside Columbus, Ohio and wears many many hats! She’s a wife, mamma, nurse practitioner, pattern designer, quilter, pattern tester, Baby Lock Ambassador and Co-Founder of Color of Connection Quilt! Amazing, right? She’s also been around as one of my pattern testers for quite a while now! She first tested Riding Mountain a year and a half ago, and has tested almost every single one since then!

Keyana made this adorable wall hanging using Riley Blake’s Confetti Solids in Tea Rose, Cranberry and Off White. She also added the most darling touch with some straight line quilting!

Meet Jennifer of @piperautumndesigns

Jennifer runs a fantastic Ohio-based fabric store called Piper Autumn Designs on Etsy. She is my pattern tester who creates the most ideas and mockups before settling on a final decision. Luckily, she can take all of these brilliant ideas and create fabric bundles for her shop! Make sure to check it out.

When Art Gallery Fabrics released their new colours a couple of weeks ago, Jennifer knew how she wanted to use them for her Churchill Quilt (see below)! She used AGF’s Pure Solids in Emerald, Garden Fern and Olive Oil. She also made two quilt kits for the Churchill pattern!

Meet Kendra of @piecefabricco

Kendra is the most recent pattern tester to join our group! She runs an online fabric store out of Grande Prairie, Alberta. She and I quickly bonded on Instagram over bold lipstick, comfy sweatshirts and a love of fabric. We later learned we also had connections to small town Manitoba! Make sure to check out Piece Fabric Co for a wide selection of fabric, bundles and more.

Kendra’s daughter actually made this wall hanging version! Kendra also made kits for the 7-colour version and the 3-colour version. Make sure to check them out in her shop

Meet Sarai of @sarai_hobbies

Sarai lives with her husband, two daughters, a dog, a cat, two bunnies, and two horses on a little country property in Central British Columbia! I LOVE working with her as a pattern tester because she always uses such pretty florals, which is completely different from what I use! Everything she does is so soft and pretty. She’s also been testing for me for a long time...she first tested Paint Lake over two years ago! She also collaborates with fabric designers and manufacturers like Art Gallery Fabrics and Ava & Neve.

Sarai made this stunning bed-size version of the Churchill Quilt using these fresh, spring colours!
